Why is my Internet so Slow ?

Posted on August 20, 2022

There are many reasons why my internet is slow. Worst case scenario, your ISP could be guilty of bandwidth throttling. Perhaps your internet provider is having issues, your home network needs a reboot, or you’re just too far away from the router — the possibilities can be a bit overwhelming. There could be high internet traffic in your area or through your provider, you could have devices on your local network soaking up your bandwidth, or you could simply have a slow plan.

What affects internet speed?

Multiple factors affect the speed and quality of your internet connection. Transfer technology, your location, the number of people you share the connection with and the device you use are only some of these factors. There are also differences between a fixed network and a mobile network.

A good download speed is at least 100 Mbps, and a good upload speed is at least 10 Mbps.

How to increase internet speed ?

Here are the solutions of speed up the Slow Internet :

1. Put the Router in a Better Place :

Your Internet speed is dependent on your router Wi-Fi signal is weak due to distance, so you should keep the router in such a place from where your router can cover your entire house or apartment.

2. Eliminate All Bandwidth Hogs :

Bandwidth hogs are applications that connect to the Internet and take up all available bandwidth by downloading or uploading data. Some of the biggest offenders include file-syncing services like OneDrive, Google Drive and Dropbox.

3. You may face hardware problems :

Most router manufacturers have troubleshooting guides on their websites, and this is where you should start.

4. Troubleshoot DNS Servers :

Here one contains a database of public IP addresses and their associated hostnames. It is usually supplied by your Internet Service Provider, which may use it to restrict access to certain websites.

5. Fix the problem with the help of your Internet Service Provider :

Your internet speed depends as much on your internet service provider as it does on you.

Is everyone experiencing slow internet?

As people have hunkered down to contain the spread of the coronavirus, average internet speeds all over the world have slowed. Some broadband providers are feeling crushed by the heavy traffic.
