How to fix the Google Chrome Black Screen Problem?
There are several ways to fix the Chrome black screen issue on Windows. Each method works on a particular error that may be responsible for it.
Disable Google Chrome extensions
Chrome extensions can sometimes interfere with your browser, causing it to become black. If you see a black screen in Chrome after installing or using an extension, you’ll need to disable it.
- Press the three-dots icon in the top-right corner.

- Select More Tools > Extensions.

- Now, you will see all of your Chrome plugins and extensions listed.
- Switching it from the blue (on) position to the gray (off) position.

- After disabling the Chrome extensions, you can now try to restart your Google Chrome.
Resize the Browser Window
The cause might be that the page is too wide for your screen. Resize a window by dragging the edges or corners of the window. Hold down Shift while resizing to snap the window to the edges of the screen and other windows. Press Alt+F8 on your keyboard shortcut to resize.
Disable Hardware Acceleration
Hardware acceleration is a process where applications offload certain tasks to hardware in your system, especially to accelerate that task. If the feature isn’t optimized properly, or if your GPU is overworked, graphical errors (like a Chrome black screen) can occur.
- Go to the three-dot Menu > Settings > Advanced > System from the side menu.

- Disable Use hardware acceleration when available near the bottom of the list.
- Switching it from the on position (in blue) to the off position (in gray).
Note: You can check whether or not it is currently being used by typing chrome://gpu into the address bar and checking the status of each graphics acceleration setting in the GPU report menu.
Turn Off Chrome Flags
- Go to the search/address bar of your chrome browser and type in either chrome://flags or about://flags.

- Once you open the page and scroll down, you will see a long list of all available flags.
- To see which flags won’t work on your browser, select the Unavailable tab.

- Select Disabled from the drop-down menu beside each settings flag to disable it.
