There are several ways to ss on windows. Usually, each method differs based on which windows operating system you are using and the content of which you take a screenshot. To proceed, choose the method that best suits your needs.
Use PrtScn key
TIP: Sometimes abbreviated as Prtcr, PRTSC, PrtScrn, Prt Scrn, PrntScrn, or Ps/SR, the Print Screen key is a keyboard key found on most computer keyboards.
Press and hold the Alt key and then press the Print Screen key, a screenshot of the active window is taken instead of the fullscreen.
Windows 8, 10, and 11 users can press the Windows + Print Screen key to take a screenshot of their screen and have the image saved as screenshot.png in the Pictures > Screenshots folder.
Using the Windows Snipping Tool
TIP: The Snipping Tool is a feature introduced in Windows 7 and is also available in Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows 11.
- Click on the start menu.
- Type Snipping Tool and press Enter.

- Type the snipping tool and press Enter., and then select the preferred capture mode.
- Choose the Free-form Snip, Rectangle Snip, Window Snip, or Full-screen Snip option.

- Press and hold the left mouse button, drag the mouse to highlight the area you want to capture, then release the mouse button.
Note: press Windows key + Shift + S to start a new snipping action.
Using the Game Bar
- Firstly, press Windows + G key to open the game bar.
- In the next window, the dialogue box pops up. Click on Yes.
- Then, click the camera icon to capture a full-screen screenshot.
Note: It can also record a video clip by pressing the record button, with the option to include audio by clicking the microphone icon
- These screenshots are saved in PNG format in the location C:\Users( Username)\ Videos \Captures.
