When you create a new Microsoft account, you’re asked to add security info. After process, you’ll receive a security code at the phone number or email address you have register or link your Microsoft account. Your security info will be available to use immediately if you forget your password. They come in handy when you need to reset your password or change any info, which is crucial to the account. You can sign in to your Microsoft account in Microsoft windows.
How to add security info to Microsoft account ?
- Go to your Microsoft account.
- Sign in with your email address and password your account is linked.
- Click the Security info.
Add a minimum of two security info: - Microsoft Authenticator app
- Text messaging
- Phone calls
- Change to default sign-in method.
OR
- Select the Advanced security option.
- Verify your account owner by receiving a security code via text or email.
- Select to Add a new way to sign in or verify.
- Follow the directions provide to add and verify your new security info.
OR
- Open the Microsoft account and sign in with your email and password.
- Open the Security tab > Advanced security > “Ways to prove who you are” > Add a new way to sign in.
- Select the verification option — Like code or a notification.
- Click the Next and check the code.
- Confirm the verification code and select Next option.
Update or add security info :
You can add, update, and remove any security info.
- Open the security > Update my info link > Add security info.
- Select Phone number or email address.
- Click on Remove link next to the security info you want to remove.
- Confirm it by entering the verification code.
- You cannot update or replace existing with another.
